Engineered to spin faster and draw less current than a standard replacement starter, it’s the right choice when you want more than just a like-for-like swap — particularly on larger Mercury V6 and V8 outboards where reliable cold-crank performance matters most.

Compatible Applications

Mercury V6 and V8 outboard engines (refer to Sierra’s current application guide to confirm fitment for your specific engine model and year)

Key Features

Gear-reduction design for faster cranking speed and lower amp draw

Hi-performance upgrade over standard OEM-style starters

Built to OEM specifications for direct-fit installation

Ideal for larger Mercury outboards where reliable cold-start performance is critical

Parts Desk Insights

This is the starter to reach for when a standard replacement isn’t cutting it — particularly on high-compression Mercury V6 and V8 outboards that are hard on starters, or on boats with aging electrical systems where reducing current draw matters. The gear-reduction design spins the engine faster with less strain on the battery and wiring, which translates to more reliable starts in cold weather or after extended storage.
