The NGK DR7EA is a standard resistor spark plug used in select motorcycles, ATVs, scooters, utility engines, and specialty small-engine applications where the manufacturer specifies the DR7EA / NGK 7839 plug profile. It uses copper-core nickel construction, a built-in resistor, a 12 mm thread body, and a flat/gasket-seat design for dependable ignition service in compatible engines.
This plug should be installed only where the engine service manual, equipment label, or factory application chart specifically calls for NGK DR7EA, NGK 7839, or an approved equivalent.

- Select specialty marine or compact four-stroke applications only where the engine chart specifically calls for DR7EA / 7839.
Use this plug only where the manufacturer's application chart lists DR7EA, 7839, or an approved equivalent.
Fitment Notice
Confirm fitment by exact year, make, model, engine size, serial number, service manual, and spark plug chart before ordering. Spark plugs with the same thread diameter can still differ in reach, heat range, seat style, terminal type, resistor design, projection, and required gap. Installing the wrong plug can cause hard starting, misfire, poor idle, overheating, thread damage, piston contact, or ignition-system issues.
When This Part Needs Replacement
Replace spark plugs during scheduled tune-up service or whenever the plug is worn, fouled, fuel-soaked, oil-contaminated, cracked, corroded, damaged, or causing hard starting, rough idle, hesitation, misfire, weak acceleration, or poor throttle response. Engines that idle for long periods, operate in damp conditions, or sit in seasonal storage should have plugs inspected more regularly.
Installation Notes
Check the plug number and required gap before installation. Install into clean, undamaged cylinder head threads and tighten to the engine manufacturer's torque specification for the exact engine. Because this is a gasket-seat plug, confirm the sealing washer is present and seats correctly.
Avoid adding anti-seize unless the engine or spark plug manufacturer specifically calls for it, as thread lubricant can change clamping load and increase the risk of over-tightening in aluminum cylinder heads. Confirm whether the ignition lead requires the removable terminal nut installed or removed before fitting the spark plug cap.

Parts Desk Insight
The DR7EA is a 12 mm, 19 mm reach resistor plug with a non-projected firing end and heat range 7. It should be matched by exact plug number and application chart, not just by vehicle category or thread size. Correct reach, seat style, terminal setup, gap, and heat range are all important for reliable ignition and cylinder-head safety.
