When This Part Needs Replacement
Replace this filter during scheduled Gen III Cool Fuel service, when replacing related Cool Fuel module seals, after contaminated fuel exposure, or when the engine shows symptoms of restricted fuel flow such as hard starting, hesitation, rough idle, surging, loss of power, or stalling under load.
Replacement is also recommended any time the module is opened and the filter, gasket, or O-ring shows contamination, swelling, cracking, flattening, hardening, or fuel-related damage.
Installation Notes
Relieve fuel system pressure before service and work in a well-ventilated area away from sparks, flame, and hot surfaces. Open the Gen III Cool Fuel housing according to the MerCruiser service procedure. Remove the old filter and sealing components, then inspect the module for fuel varnish, debris, water, corrosion, and damaged gasket surfaces.
Install the new filter, gasket, and O-ring in the correct positions. After reassembly, prime the fuel system as required, check carefully for leaks, and run the engine while inspecting the Cool Fuel module and fuel connections.
