When This Product Needs Replacement
Replace wet exhaust or water hose if it shows cracking, soft spots, swelling, oil saturation, collapsed sections, blistering, delamination, heat damage, exposed wire, rust bleeding from reinforcement, or permanent flattening at bends. Exhaust hose should also be inspected if there is steam, unusual exhaust smell, engine-room water leakage, overheating, reduced raw water flow, or visible wear near clamps and fittings.
Hoses in hot, cramped engine rooms should be inspected during seasonal service, especially near exhaust elbows, mufflers, raw-water pumps, through-hulls, and tight bend locations.
Installation Notes
Measure the hose route before cutting and avoid forcing the hose into a bend tighter than the manufacturer’s recommended bend radius. Support long runs to prevent sagging, chafe, vibration wear, and strain on fittings. Use proper marine-grade hose clamps and inspect clamp placement after the hose has been fully seated on the fitting.
For wet exhaust systems, confirm that hose routing, water-lift height, anti-siphon protection, exhaust backpressure, and support spacing match the engine and exhaust-system requirements. For below-waterline raw-water intake service, use appropriate marine installation practices, secure clamping, and regular inspection.
