Greenfield 238-515R — 15 lb PVC Coated Cast Iron Mushroom Anchor
The Greenfield 238-515R is a 15 lb cast iron mushroom anchor finished in a durable red PVC coating. Built for calm-water anchoring on small-to-mid-size boats, the wide-cup mushroom profile creates a suction-style hold in soft, muddy, or sandy lake and river bottoms — keeping you anchored right where you want to fish. Three drainage holes in the cup let water escape as you retrieve the anchor, reducing weight on the way up.
Best Use Case
Ideal for calm freshwater environments — lakes, ponds, slow rivers, and protected bays. Best suited for small-to-mid-size fishing boats, jon boats, and aluminum boats up to 16 ft. Not recommended for open-water or high-current applications where a fluke or plow anchor would provide better holding power.

Mushroom anchors rely on suction and weight rather than digging, so they perform best in soft lake bottoms and are not a substitute for fluke or plow anchors in current or open water. If a customer is anchoring a smaller boat up to 12 ft, the 10 lb 238-510RD may be sufficient. Confirm the customer’s bottom type and boat size before recommending — this anchor is rated for boats up to 16 ft.
