How do I choose the right boat anchor?

How much anchor chain do I need?

The right chain length depends on boat size, anchor type, windlass requirements, bottom conditions, and how the boat is used. Chain helps the anchor set and protects the rode from abrasion.

What is anchor rode?

Anchor rode is the connection between the boat and anchor. It may be rope, chain, or a rope-and-chain combination depending on the boat, anchor, and retrieval setup.

Do I need a swivel on my anchor?

A swivel can help reduce twist during retrieval, especially with bow rollers and windlasses. It must be properly rated and compatible with the anchor and chain.
