The PSS 02-100-112 is a Type A mechanical face shaft seal designed to replace a conventional stuffing box on inboard boats with a 1" propeller shaft and a 1-1/2" to 1-5/8" stern tube. Instead of packing that requires periodic adjustment and intentional dripping, the PSS uses a carbon-graphite stationary sealing face and a stainless-steel rotor to create a dripless seal that requires minimal routine maintenance.
The result is a dry bilge, no shaft wear from packing friction, and no need to haul the boat just to re-pack the gland. PSS seals are installed as standard equipment by builders and are accepted by the USCG.

Fitment Note
Both measurements are required to order correctly. Do not select this seal by shaft diameter alone. Confirm both the 1" shaft diameter and the 1-1/2" to 1-5/8" stern-tube diameter, along with available installation length around the shaft. PSS specifically advises confirming the stern-tube diameter before ordering — this is the most common sizing error.

The most common ordering mistake is measuring only the shaft. For this seal (02-100-112), the critical second number is the stern tube: 1-1/2" to 1-5/8". Measure the outside diameter of the stern tube where the bellows will attach — not the shaft log bore — before ordering. If your stern tube falls outside this range, a different PSS model is required. Also confirm you have at least 6-1/4" of clear installation length around the shaft before the coupling or cutlass bearing.
