Johnson Pump 500 GPH Cartridge Bilge Pump 32503

Product Description

Johnson Pump 32503 is a 12V non-automatic cartridge bilge pump rated at 500 GPH, with a 3/4" outlet and Dura-Port discharge fittings. It is built for small-boat bilge water removal where a compact electric pump is needed and automatic switching is handled separately with a float switch, electronic switch, or panel switch.

Key Features

  • Johnson Pump part number 32503.
  • 12V electric bilge pump with 500 GPH listed capacity.
  • Non-automatic operation; can be paired with a compatible automatic switch or bilge control panel.
  • 3/4" discharge connection.
  • Includes straight and 90° smooth elbow Dura-Port fittings plus a removable check valve.
  • Cartridge motor design allows maintenance without removing the full pump casing from the boat and hose setup.
  • Output reference: 33 L/min / 525 GPH at 3 ft head and 40 L/min / 630 GPH straight at 13.6V.
  • Electrical reference: 2.5A draw with 5A fuse recommendation.

Engine Compatibility

This is not an engine-specific product. It is selected by boat size, bilge layout, voltage, outlet hose size, switching setup, and pumping capacity. The key application checks are a 12V DC system, 3/4" bilge hose, and whether a non-automatic 500 GPH pump is the correct choice for the installation.

Serial Number Fitment Notice

Match this pump by the boat's bilge system requirements rather than by engine serial number. Confirm the pump voltage, discharge hose size, mounting area, fuse sizing, and whether the system requires a separate automatic switch or manual panel control.

When This Part Needs Replacement

Replace the bilge pump when the motor no longer runs reliably, output is weak, the pump is clogged beyond normal service, the housing is damaged, or the existing pump can no longer keep up with bilge water removal. A non-automatic pump should also be checked alongside the float switch or panel switch when troubleshooting.

Installation Notes

Install using the correct 12V wiring, 5A fuse protection, and 3/4" discharge hose. The included straight and 90° Dura-Port fittings allow the outlet direction to be matched to the hose route, and the cartridge design supports easier service without removing the full pump base from the boat.

Alternate/Superseded Part Numbers

Current references show 32503 as the Johnson Pump model number. One current listing also shows alternate part number 32-1450-01 for this 500 GPH cartridge bilge pump.

Parts Desk Insight

For bilge pumps, the important match is the voltage, outlet size, and automatic vs. non-automatic setup. This 32503 pump is the non-automatic 12V version, so make sure the boat has the right switch arrangement before replacing the pump.
