Why Foam Lifejackets for Infants?
Foam lifejackets are critical for infants because they provide reliable, fail-safe flotation without requiring any action from the wearer. The inherent buoyancy means the jacket will work even if the infant is unconscious. The infant-specific design includes enhanced head and neck support to keep the baby's face out of the water and ensure proper self-righting capability, which is absolutely essential for infants who cannot right themselves.
IMO Infant Lifejacket Regulations:
For the first time, IMO regulations demand the provision of infant lifejackets on-board community ships. The LALIZAS Advanced Infant Lifejacket fully complies with these mandatory regulations for all lifejackets used on-board Community ships. These lifejackets are designed for use in most weather conditions and represent a significant advancement in infant safety at sea.
Compatible Accessories:
It is recommended to combine this lifejacket with a compatible LALIZAS Lifejacket Light for enhanced visibility during nighttime emergencies. The light attaches to the shoulder area and activates automatically when immersed in water, significantly improving the chances of being spotted during search and rescue operations.
Donning Instructions:
- Place on Infant - Carefully place lifejacket on infant with front panel over chest
- Secure All Straps - Fasten and tighten all straps snugly but comfortably
- Check Head Support - Ensure head support is properly positioned to keep infant's face out of water
- Secure Crotch Straps - Fasten crotch straps to prevent jacket from riding up
- Verify Fit - Jacket should be snug but not restrictive - you should not be able to pull jacket over infant's head
Inspection & Maintenance:
- Visual Inspection - Regularly inspect for tears, damage, or deterioration
- Strap Check - Ensure all straps, buckles, and fasteners are intact and functional
- Reflective Tape - Check retroreflective tape for damage or loss of reflectivity
- Whistle & Light - Verify whistle is attached and lifejacket light (if equipped) is functional
