Are flexible couplings a fix for poor shaft alignment?
No. Flexible couplings can reduce vibration and absorb some movement, but the shaft, engine mounts, transmission, strut, and propeller still need to be aligned and inspected correctly.
When should a coupling element or damper be replaced?
Replace worn, cracked, swollen, oil-damaged, distorted, noisy, or loose elements. Also inspect related hardware when there is unusual vibration, impact history, or coupling wear.
