Lightweight Anchor Chain for Smaller Vessels. 92 Feet Ready to Go.
The Titan Chain Grade 30 Proof Coil Hot Dip Galvanized Chain in 5/16" x 92 feet is sized for smaller sailboats, powerboats, and dinghies where 3/8" chain would be overkill in weight and windlass load. At 5/16" diameter, this chain is lighter and easier to handle manually while still delivering the corrosion resistance and working strength needed for reliable anchoring in coastal and inland waters.
Ninety-two feet gives you a complete shallow-water anchor rode or a generous chain leader on a rope rode β enough scope for most day-anchoring and overnight situations on smaller vessels. Hot dip galvanized finish and ISO short pitch links ensure long-term durability and windlass compatibility.

β Parts Desk Insight
- 5/16" is the right size for smaller boats: Typically used on vessels under 30 feet. Lighter than 3/8" chain, easier to handle manually, and compatible with lighter-duty windlasses. Customers with larger vessels should step up to 3/8" or 1/2" for appropriate working load and catenary effect.
- 92 feet provides solid scope for shallow-water anchoring: At 5:1 scope, 92 feet covers anchoring in up to ~15 feet of water as an all-chain rode. As a chain leader on a rope rode, it provides excellent abrasion protection and weight at the anchor end for depths well beyond that.
- Windlass gypsy must match 5/16" Grade 30: Not all windlasses accommodate 5/16" chain β some are gypsied only for 3/8". Customers should confirm their windlass gypsy specification before ordering to ensure the chain feeds correctly without skipping or jamming.
- Manual handling is practical at this diameter: Unlike 3/8" or 1/2" chain, 5/16" can be retrieved and deployed by hand on smaller vessels without a windlass. This makes it a good choice for boats without a windlass or as a backup anchor chain that doesnβt rely on powered retrieval.
