What This Charger Does

The Blue Sea Systems 7532 P12 is a high-capacity 12V, 40A marine battery charger that charges and maintains up to three battery banks simultaneously. Its four-stage charging system incorporates Blue Sea Systems’ PreFloat™ technology to prevent overcharging while bringing each connected bank to a proper maintenance state. Built into a rugged finned aluminum enclosure, the P12 is designed for dry-mount marine installations where dependable charging, system monitoring, and protection are critical.

Compatible Applications

  • 12V marine battery systems with combined bank capacity of 60Ah–440Ah
  • AGM batteries
  • Flooded lead-acid batteries
  • Gel batteries
  • TPPL / Thin Plate Pure Lead batteries
  • Vessels using Blue Sea Systems ACR Charge Coordination

Note: The P12 applies one battery-type profile across the entire charging system. All connected banks must be compatible with the selected chemistry profile. Confirm your vessel uses a 12V DC system and that combined bank capacity falls within the recommended range before ordering.

Key Features

  • Four-stage charging with PreFloat™ — prevents overcharging while maintaining each bank
  • 3-bank output — charges up to three independent battery banks from a single unit
  • Universal AC input — 115–230V, 45–65 Hz for use in North America and abroad
  • Power-factor-corrected AC input — reduces load on shore power circuits
  • Battery temperature compensation — includes Blue Sea Systems 1820 sensor
  • User-defined charging profiles — customizable settings for your battery bank
  • Large integrated diagnostic display with multi-language interface
  • Ignition protected and compliant with applicable marine electrical standards
  • Built-in protection — reverse-polarity, surge, short-circuit, and over-voltage
  • ACR compatible — works with Blue Sea Systems Automatic Charging Relays

When to Replace

  • Charger no longer maintains proper battery voltage
  • One or more charging outputs fail
  • Charging becomes intermittent
  • Diagnostic faults persist after batteries and wiring have been checked
  • Internal corrosion, heat damage, or physical damage is present
  • Upgrading to a larger multi-bank charging system

Before replacing, verify battery condition, shore-power supply, wiring connections, and battery temperature sensor operation.

Installation Notes

Install in a dry, adequately ventilated location. Size AC/DC wiring, overcurrent protection, and grounding per Blue Sea Systems installation instructions and applicable marine electrical standards. Output studs are M6. The included Blue Sea Systems 1820 submersible temperature sensor mounts directly to the battery.

Service Interval

No fixed service interval. Inspect wiring connections, output studs, and the temperature sensor annually or whenever charging performance is in question. Clean terminals and confirm sensor contact at each inspection.

Technical FAQ

Can I charge different battery chemistries on each bank simultaneously?
No. The P12 uses one battery-type profile for the full charging system. All banks must be the same chemistry type (e.g., all AGM or all flooded). Mixed chemistries across banks are not supported.

What is PreFloat™?
PreFloat™ is Blue Sea Systems’ charging stage that transitions the charger before dropping into float mode, preventing overcharging while ensuring each bank reaches an appropriate maintenance voltage.

What battery bank capacity is recommended?
Blue Sea Systems recommends a combined bank capacity of 60Ah minimum to 440Ah maximum for the 7532. Below 60Ah risks overcharging; above 440Ah the charger may underperform.

Is this charger ignition protected?
Yes. The 7532 is ignition protected and suitable for installation in gasoline-engine vessels per applicable marine electrical standards.

Parts Desk Insights

The 7532 is the right call when you need a single high-output charger for a multi-bank 12V system — 40A across three banks is a significant step up from running separate smaller chargers. The critical setup detail: the P12 uses one battery-type profile across the entire system, so all connected banks must be the same chemistry. If you are running mixed chemistries onboard (e.g., AGM house bank and flooded start bank), confirm your charging strategy before ordering. The included Blue Sea Systems 1820 temperature sensor is a meaningful bonus at this price point.
