Gauge senders must match the instrument range. Wrong resistance values can cause false readings even when the wiring is good.

Corroded terminals, weak grounds, loose plugs, and damaged harnesses can mimic failed sensors and senders.

How do I choose the correct engine sensor or sender?

Use the engine brand, model, serial number, current part number, connector style, thread size, and whether the part feeds a gauge, alarm, display, or engine computer.

Are sensors and senders the same thing?

Not always. A sender usually provides a signal to a gauge or display, while a sensor may feed an engine-control system. Some terms overlap, so fitment details matter.

Why is my gauge reading wrong after replacing a sender?

The sender may have the wrong resistance range, the gauge may be incompatible, or there may be a wiring, ground, connector, or installation issue.
