Size note: Mercury uses several different E-rings and retaining rings in adjacent positions within the same assembly. Match by part number, shaft diameter, groove width, and diagram position — a visually similar ring from a nearby position may not be the correct fit.
Single-use note: E-rings should be replaced rather than reused after removal. Spreading the ring during removal reduces its spring tension and groove retention.
