Hustler® 14x13 – 3-Blade Aluminum Propeller

The Hustler® 14x13 is a high-performance aluminum propeller engineered for 40–150hp outboards and sterndrives with 4.25" gearcases. With a 13" pitch, it’s the step up from the Hustler® 14x11 — better suited for lighter, faster hulls where the engine has the headroom to pull a higher pitch and reach its optimal WOT RPM range.

Built using an exclusive squeeze-cast process and the same blade geometry as stainless steel designs, it delivers exceptional stiffness, reduced flex, and strong top-end performance and bow lift at a fraction of the cost of a stainless steel prop. Compatible with Evinrude®, Honda®, Johnson®, Mariner®, Mercury®, MerCruiser®, Nissan®, OMC®, Parsun®, Suzuki®, Tohatsu®, and Yamaha® outboards and sterndrives. Requires a 500-series hub installation kit (sold separately).

Key Features

  • Squeeze-Cast Construction: Produces a denser, tighter grain structure than traditional die-cast aluminum — resulting in stiffer blades, less flex under load, and more efficient power transfer to the water.
  • Stainless Steel Blade Geometry: Blade profiles are drawn from the same geometry used in stainless steel designs, delivering top-end speed and bow-lifting performance that rivals SS props.
  • Tuned Exhaust Vents: Reduce water density around the blades during acceleration for faster hole shots and improved horsepower delivery.
  • Ultracoat™ Powder-Coated Finish: A five-step powder-coat process provides superior corrosion resistance and a durable, automotive-quality appearance that holds up in saltwater and freshwater environments.
  • Large Free-Flowing Exhaust Ports: Oversized exhaust pathways reduce backpressure and help maximize available horsepower.

Parts Desk Insights

Best Use Case: The Hustler® 14x13 is the right call for a customer running a 40–150hp outboard or sterndrive on a lighter, faster hull — center consoles, bass boats, or runabouts — where the engine can comfortably pull a 13" pitch and reach its WOT RPM range. If the customer is currently running the Hustler® 14x11 and over-revving at WOT, the 14x13 is the natural next step. Conversely, if the engine is struggling to reach WOT RPM with the 14x13, step them back down to the 14x11.

3-Blade vs. 4-Blade: The 3-blade Hustler® 14x13 prioritizes top-end speed and fuel efficiency — it’s the better choice for pontoons and lighter loads in flat water. If the customer wants better hole shot, stern lift, or rough-water stability (especially on a tri-toon or a heavily loaded boat), recommend the Hustler® 14x13 4-Blade instead. Note that 4-blade props typically load the engine slightly more — the customer may need to drop 1" of pitch when switching from 3 to 4 blades.

Pitch Selection Tip: As a general rule, every 2" of pitch change shifts WOT RPM by approximately 200–400 RPM. If the engine is over-revving at WOT, move up in pitch; if it can’t reach WOT RPM range, move down.

Aluminum vs. Stainless: For customers who want maximum performance from this gearcase, the Express® Mach3 stainless steel line is the natural upgrade path. The Hustler® runs within 0.5–1 mph of the equivalent SS design in most conditions.

Hub Kit Required: This propeller uses the 500-series hub system only. Always confirm the customer’s engine make, model, and year before recommending a hub kit — the 503, 504, 505, and 506 all cover this gearcase range but are engine-specific. Verify against the application chart.
