Forespar Lightning Master™ Static Dissipater — 21" Masthead Mount — 151100

The Forespar Lightning Master™ is a static dissipater designed to reduce the conditions that can trigger a direct lightning strike on your vessel. By continuously bleeding off the static ground charge that builds up at the masthead — the charge that can initiate ion streamers and attract a strike — it works to lower the vessel’s exposure to a direct hit. At 21" long, it mounts at the masthead with two machine screws and is suitable for both power and sailboats.

Key Features

  • Continuously dissipates static ground charge at the masthead in low amperages over time
  • Designed to reduce the formation of ion streamers that can attract lightning strikes
  • 21" length mounts at the masthead with two machine screws — no special tools required
  • Suitable for power and sailboats
  • Proven technology used to protect commercial broadcast and television towers

Specifications

  • Length: 21"
  • Mounting: Two machine screws at masthead
  • Application: Power and sailboats
  • Weight: 794g

Parts Desk Insights

Best use case: The Lightning Master™ static dissipater is best suited for sailboat and powerboat owners who want an additional layer of passive lightning risk reduction at the masthead, particularly on vessels operating in lightning-prone regions or offshore. It is most commonly installed on sailboats where the mast is the highest point on the vessel and the primary lightning exposure risk. Note that a static dissipater is not a substitute for a properly bonded and grounded lightning protection system — it is intended to complement, not replace, a complete lightning protection installation. Consult ABYC Standard E-11 and a qualified marine electrician for a full lightning protection assessment of your vessel before relying on any single device for protection.
