Honda outboards in the same horsepower range can use different pump assemblies depending on model version and production range, so matching the OEM number is the safest way to confirm fitment.
When This Part Needs Replacement
Replace this kit when the outboard shows weak cooling-water flow, overheats, has an irregular tell-tale stream, or after the pump has been run dry. It is also good practice to service the water pump when the impeller is cracked, stiff, missing vane material, permanently bent, or when the lower unit is already removed for seasonal maintenance.
Installation Notes
Install with the lower unit removed and inspect the pump housing, cup, and wear plate before reassembly. This kit does not include the housing, so any damaged, scored, melted, or heavily worn housing components should be replaced separately. Lightly lubricate the impeller during installation, confirm the impeller key is seated properly, and verify strong cooling-water flow immediately after startup.
