Replace Before Cooling Flow Drops

Impellers are routine maintenance parts. Heat, age, dry starts, sand, debris, long storage, and low water flow can all shorten service life. Inspect the old impeller carefully and account for any missing vane pieces.

Inspect each seasonCheck for cracked vanes, stiffness, missing pieces, hub damage, set, or rubber dust.
Check the pump bodyLook at the cover, wear plate, cup, housing, cam, seals, and gaskets before closing the pump.

Should I buy an impeller kit instead of just the impeller?

Choose a kit when the pump has unknown service history, damaged gaskets, worn seals, scored wear surfaces, or small hardware that should be replaced while the pump is open.

When should a boat impeller be replaced?
