Regulatory Requirements
Under the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS Rule 30), vessels at anchor must display an anchor ball in the forepart where it can best be seen during daylight hours. This requirement applies to vessels 7 meters or more in length anchored in areas where other vessels may be navigating.
