The Lowrance 000-0120-37 is a 15 ft (4.5 m) engine interface cable that connects compatible Yamaha outboards directly to an NMEA 2000 network, allowing engine data to be displayed on any NMEA 2000 compatible chartplotter or multi-function display. Engine Data Supported

Depending on engine model, this cable can transmit the following data to your NMEA 2000 display:

  • Engine RPM
  • Alternator voltage
  • Engine hours
  • Engine temperature
  • Fuel pressure
  • Fuel flow rate
  • Oil pressure
  • Engine trim
  • Water pressure

Note: Digital trim display requires the appropriate Yamaha connection and dealer configuration on some models.

Installation Notes

  • Connect the Yamaha engine end to the factory interface connector under the engine cowling — typically a white 4-pin connector on the starboard side with two wires (blue and white) already connected
  • If a factory waterproof plug is installed on the connector, remove it before connecting the cable
  • Connect the NMEA 2000 end to the backbone using the included T-connector
  • The NMEA 2000 network must be powered and correctly terminated at both ends before commissioning the engine data connection
  • If your boat does not yet have an NMEA 2000 network, a backbone starter kit is required before using this cable — see related products below

Parts Desk Insights

Best Use Case: This cable is the cleanest solution for getting Yamaha engine data onto an NMEA 2000 network when you don't want to invest in a full Yamaha CommandLink Plus setup. It's especially well-suited for boats that already have a working NMEA 2000 backbone and just need to bring the engine into the network. One cable, one T-connector, and you're done.

Common Issues: The most common installation challenge is locating and accessing the Yamaha factory 4-pin connector under the cowling — it can be tucked away and may have a factory plug installed that needs to be removed first. Also confirm your NMEA 2000 backbone has adequate capacity and a free T-connector slot before ordering. If your boat doesn't have an existing NMEA 2000 network, you'll need a starter kit (backbone cable, terminators, T-connectors, and power cable) before this interface cable will function — see the X2K-Exp-Red-2 NMEA Starter Kit below.

Technical Notes

  • A powered and correctly terminated NMEA 2000 backbone is required — this cable does not include backbone cable, terminators, or a power cable
  • Confirm your specific Yamaha engine model and production year against the compatibility list before installation
  • For twin-engine installations, one interface cable is required per engine
