When to Replace

Can I replace just the sleeve, or do I need the complete hub kit?
If only the sleeve is damaged and all other hub components (thrust washer, aft adapter, spacer, nut) are in good condition, replacing the sleeve alone is a cost-effective repair. However, after a significant propeller strike it is good practice to inspect the entire hub assembly and replace any component showing wear or deformation.
Why does the drive sleeve crack or fail?
The sleeve is designed as a sacrificial component β it absorbs impact energy that would otherwise be transmitted to the gearcase. Cracking or splitting after a strike is the sleeve doing its job correctly. A sleeve that slips without any strike event has usually fatigued from age, heat cycling, or sustained overloading.
