Not for use in: engines specifying conventional TC-W3 oil (Premium or Premium Plus), 4-stroke crankcase oil, gear lubricant, or any other lubricant category. This oil is not intended for manual gasoline premix use.
Why OptiMax / DFI Oil Is Different
OptiMax and DFI engines inject oil directly into the engine at lower rates and under higher combustion temperatures than conventional 2-stroke systems. This places greater demands on the lubricant — the dedicated synthetic blend formula provides the increased lubricity, scuff resistance, and deposit control these engines need. Substituting standard TC-W3 oil in an OptiMax engine can lead to accelerated wear and carbon deposit buildup over time.

The single most important thing with this product is making sure your engine actually calls for OptiMax / DFI oil. If you’re not sure, check the sticker on the oil reservoir or the owner’s manual — running standard TC-W3 oil through a DFI system is one of the more common mistakes we see, and it can cause carbon buildup in the injection system over time. Engines that specify this oil need it specifically because of how the direct injection system works at higher temperatures and lower oil volumes than a conventional 2-stroke.
