Fitment Notice

Match this kit to your pump model number stamped on the pump housing — not by engine brand or displacement alone. F6B-family pumps were produced in multiple configurations; service-kit compatibility can vary by pump version and seal arrangement. If you are unsure of the pump model, confirm the impeller number currently fitted — this kit includes the 09-812BT-1 threaded impeller. Match that reference to your pump before ordering.

Service Interval

Inspect the flexible impeller at least annually and service the pump based on condition:

  • Inspect the impeller at every season start
  • Replace the impeller at the first sign of cracking, hardening, missing blades, or reduced output
  • Replace seals, gasket, washer, and cover screws whenever the pump is opened for impeller service
  • Service the complete pump if it has run dry or overheated

Using a complete kit rather than an impeller alone ensures all sealing surfaces are renewed in the same service visit — particularly important on higher-hour pumps or any pump with a history of shaft-seal weeping.

Installation Notes

  • Close the raw-water intake seacock before disassembly
  • Remove the pump cover and extract the old impeller — inspect all blades and locate any missing pieces before proceeding
  • If blade fragments are missing, flush and inspect all downstream cooling passages before reassembling
  • Replace all seals, gasket, and washer included in the kit — do not reuse old sealing components
  • Inspect the pump body, cam, and end cover for scoring or grooving; replace the housing if damaged
  • Remove all old gasket material from the mating surfaces before fitting the new gasket
  • Lubricate the new impeller with the included glycerine lubricant before fitting
  • Fit the pump cover with the supplied screws and tighten evenly
  • Open the seacock and verify cooling-water flow immediately after startup

Cross-Reference / Alternate Part Numbers

Parts Desk Insights

Best use case: The 09-45825 kit is the right choice when you are servicing an F6B-9 pump and want to renew all wear and sealing components in a single visit. It is particularly valuable when the pump has a history of shaft-seal weeping or has accumulated significant hours — replacing the impeller alone while leaving aged seals in place often leads to a second service call within the same season. For a straightforward impeller-only replacement on a pump with known-good seals, the 09-812B-1 impeller is available separately.

Common issue: The most frequent mistake is ordering the kit based on engine brand or horsepower rather than the pump model number. F6B-family pumps have several variants, and the correct kit depends on the stamped pump model number, not the engine it is mounted on. Always confirm the full pump model number before ordering. If any impeller blades are missing after removal, do not return the engine to service until all fragments have been located and removed from the cooling circuit.
