The Ray53 is Raymarine’s compact entry-level fixed-mount VHF radio, delivering Class D DSC communication, a built-in GPS/GNSS receiver, and NMEA 2000 networking in a slim, IPX7-rated panel-mount package. It brings the core safety and communication features of the Raymarine VHF range to vessels where a straightforward, reliable primary radio is needed without the complexity of multi-station expansion.

Best Use Case: The Ray53 is the right choice for single-helm vessels running a Raymarine system where a clean, capable primary VHF is needed without the requirement for a second-station handset. It delivers the same built-in GPS DSC and NMEA 2000 integration as the Ray63 in a more compact, lower-cost package. Best suited for day boats, weekenders, and smaller cruisers (typically under 35 ft) with a single helm position. If second-station VHF capability via a RayMic handset is a requirement, step up to the Ray63 or Ray73. If AIS target display on your chartplotter is also needed, the Ray73 is the appropriate choice.
Installation Notes: Requires 12V DC power and a VHF antenna with PL-259 connector (sold separately). NMEA 2000 connection requires a backbone drop cable. Optional external GPS antenna connection available for improved GPS reception when the radio is mounted below decks. Does not support RayMic remote handset expansion.
Compatibility: NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 compatible. Integrates with Raymarine Axiom chartplotters and SeaTalk³ network via NMEA 2000 backbone. External GPS antenna input for optional improved positioning.
