Martyr Magnesium Anode Kit for MerCruiser Bravo III (2004–Present) — Freshwater
A complete set of sacrificial anodes for the updated MerCruiser Bravo III sterndrive (2004 and newer), formulated in magnesium alloy for freshwater use. This five-piece kit covers all primary corrosion exposure points on the current Bravo III drive — including both trim tab positions and the prop nut — for a full anode service in one order.
Note: this kit is specific to the 2004 and newer Bravo III. If your drive is a Bravo III from 1989–2003, see the Bravo II/III magnesium kit (CMBRAVO23KITM) instead.
Magnesium is the correct alloy for freshwater environments, where zinc and aluminum anodes are too electrochemically passive to provide adequate protection. If you operate in saltwater or brackish water, see the aluminum alternative linked below.

Service Interval
Replace all anodes at each annual haulout, or when any individual anode has worn to approximately 50% of its original size — whichever comes first. Magnesium anodes in freshwater deplete at a moderate rate — inspect annually and replace as a complete set for consistent protection across all five positions.
Parts Desk Insights
The most common ordering mistake with Bravo III anode kits is confusing the 2004-and-newer kit with the earlier 1989–2003 Bravo III kit. The 2004+ drive added a second trim tab position and a prop nut anode, so the component count is different — ordering the wrong kit means missing anode coverage on part of the drive. Always confirm your drive’s model year before ordering. Magnesium is the right alloy for freshwater lakes and rivers — the most common mistake we see is customers installing zinc anodes in freshwater, where zinc doesn’t corrode fast enough to provide meaningful protection. If your boat moves between fresh and salt water, the aluminum CMBRAVO3KITA kit is the more versatile option. Replace all five anodes together as a set for consistent protection across the full service interval.
