The Lewmar 589350 Anode Kit is the OEM replacement sacrificial anode set for the Lewmar 185TT bow or stern thruster. Anodes protect the thruster’s metal components from galvanic corrosion by sacrificing themselves in place of the thruster housing, tunnel, and drive components. Regular anode replacement is a critical part of thruster maintenance — depleted anodes leave the thruster unprotected.

- Replace anodes annually or when 50% depleted: Do not wait until anodes are fully consumed. Once an anode is more than 50% depleted, it no longer provides adequate protection. Inspect anodes at every haulout and replace at least once per season in saltwater use.
- Galvanic corrosion risk: If the thruster is operated with depleted or missing anodes in saltwater, galvanic corrosion can attack the thruster tunnel, housing, and drive components — leading to expensive repairs or full thruster replacement. Anodes are cheap insurance.
- Anode alloy matters: Use the correct OEM anode alloy for your operating environment. Zinc anodes are standard for saltwater; aluminum anodes are preferred for brackish water; magnesium anodes are used in freshwater only. Confirm your operating environment before substituting a non-OEM anode.
- 185TT specific: This kit is for the 185TT only. Lewmar thrusters use different anode kits by model and tunnel diameter — the 250TT uses a different kit (589550). Confirm your thruster model before ordering. Call the parts desk if you’re unsure which anode kit fits your installation.
