Aluminum is the most versatile anode alloy, performing reliably in both saltwater and brackish environments and offering longer service life than zinc in mixed-water conditions. It is also the preferred alloy for aluminum drive components, as zinc can cause accelerated corrosion on aluminum hardware in some conditions.
