Brand: Martyr Anodes
Official Product Type: Mini Hull Plate Sacrificial Anode — Zinc
Common Name: Diver’s Dream Mini Hull Anode
Dimensions: 6″ × 4″ × ½″ (approx. 152 mm × 102 mm × 12.7 mm)
Supersedes: No known superseded number
Replaced By: CMDIVERMINI is the current active part number

The Martyr CMDIVERMINI is the compact version of the Diver’s Dream hull plate anode series — a zinc sacrificial anode designed for direct mounting to a boat’s hull below the waterline. At 6″ × 4″, it offers a smaller footprint than the full-size CMDIVER (6″ × 12″), making it well suited to smaller vessels, tight hull areas, or applications where a full-size plate anode is more than required. Zinc alloy construction makes this the correct choice for salt water environments.

Compatible Applications

  • Smaller boat hulls in salt water requiring flat-plate cathodic protection
  • Vessels where the full-size 6″ × 12″ plate anode is too large for the available mounting area
  • Supplemental hull protection alongside drive, shaft, and rudder anodes
  • Diver-serviceable installations where in-water replacement is preferred
  • Salt water use only

System & Location

Cathodic protection system — hull-mounted plate anode. Mounts flush to the hull below the waterline using through-bolts or studs. The compact footprint allows placement in areas where a full-size hull plate anode would not fit. Designed to be replaced in-water by a diver.

CMDIVERMINI vs Full-Size CMDIVER — Which to Choose?

  • CMDIVERMINI — 6″ × 4″ (this anode): Compact footprint, lower anode mass. Best for smaller vessels or tight hull areas where a full-size plate won’t fit.
  • CMDIVER — 6″ × 12″ Zinc (½″): Full-size plate, more anode mass, longer service life — see Martyr CMDIVER Zinc Hull Plate Anode
  • CMDIVERHA — 6″ × 12″ Aluminum (½″): Full-size, salt & brackish water — see Martyr CMDIVERA Aluminum Hull Plate Anode

Kit Contents

  • One (1) zinc mini hull plate anode, 6″ × 4″ × ½″
  • Mounting hardware not confirmed included — verify at time of order; reuse existing studs or through-bolts if not supplied

Dimensions & Weight

  • Dimensions: 6″ × 4″ × ½″ (152 mm × 102 mm × 12.7 mm)
  • Weight: Approx. 500 g / 1.1 lb (estimated)

Service Interval

Inspect at every haul-out or have a diver inspect at least annually if the vessel is kept in the water. Replace when the anode has been consumed to approximately 50% of its original mass. Due to its smaller size, the CMDIVERMINI will deplete faster than a full-size hull plate anode under the same conditions — inspect more frequently on vessels in high-current or high-salinity environments.

Installation Notes

  • Mount flush to the hull using through-bolts or studs — ensure direct metal-to-metal contact between the anode and the hull
  • Do not apply paint, bedding compound, or sealant between the anode and the hull surface
  • Bare metal contact is essential for the anode to function correctly
  • Torque fasteners securely — a loose anode will not make proper electrical contact and may be lost underway
  • Use zinc anodes in salt water only — zinc does not perform correctly in brackish or fresh water

Technical FAQ

Q: When should I choose the mini over the full-size CMDIVER?
Choose the CMDIVERMINI when the available hull area is too small for the full-size 6″ × 12″ plate, or when the vessel is small enough that a full-size plate provides more anode mass than needed. For most vessels, the full-size plate offers better value through longer service life.

Q: Can this anode be used in brackish or fresh water?
No. Zinc anodes are for salt water use only. For brackish water, use an aluminum anode. For fresh water, use a magnesium anode.

Q: Will the smaller size mean I need to replace it more often?
Yes — less anode mass means faster depletion under the same conditions. Inspect more frequently than you would a full-size plate anode, particularly in high-salinity or high-current environments.

Parts Desk Insights

The CMDIVERMINI is the right choice when hull space is the limiting factor — smaller sailboats, runabouts, and vessels with limited flat hull area below the waterline are the most common use cases. The trade-off is shorter service life compared to the full-size plate, so it’s worth checking this anode more frequently than you might a larger one. For most vessels with adequate hull space, the full-size CMDIVER offers better long-term value. If you’re unsure which size is right for your vessel, contact us with your hull type and length and we can help size the anode correctly.
