West System C105A Epoxy Resin – 946 ml (32 oz.)
A clear, light amber, low-viscosity epoxy resin formulated for superior penetration and adhesion on wood, fiberglass, and select metals. Designed to be paired with a West System hardener, C105A forms the foundation of a versatile, high-strength epoxy system trusted by boatbuilders and repair professionals alike.
Key Features
- Low viscosity (~1000 cP at 70°F / 21°C) for deep penetration into wood fiber and fiberglass laminates
- Self-leveling — ideal for roller application on horizontal surfaces
- Cures across a wide temperature range for flexible job-site use
- Can be sanded, shaped, or painted after cure
- Excellent adhesive base when combined with thickening fillers to reduce sag on vertical surfaces
- Relatively high flash point for safer handling
Compatible Hardeners
C105A Resin must be used with a West System hardener. Choose based on your working time and temperature needs:
- West System C205 Hardener – 814 ml (27.5 oz.) — Standard cure, versatile all-season use
- West System C205 Hardener – 208 ml (7 oz.) — Compact size for small repairs
- West System C209SB Extra Slow Hardener – 1.24 L — Extended working time for large pours or hot conditions
- West System C207SA Special Clear Hardener – 315 ml — For clear coating and bright-finish applications
Parts Desk Insights
Best Use Cases: This is the go-to resin for fiberglass lamination, wood encapsulation, and structural bonding repairs on hulls, decks, and marine woodwork. It excels as a penetrating coat on bare or weathered wood before applying additional epoxy layers. When mixed with a low-density filler, it becomes an effective fairing compound; with colloidal silica, it creates a strong gap-filling adhesive for hardware bedding and joint repairs.
Tip: For accurate resin-to-hardener ratios, pair with the West System C105B Resin – 3.74 L pump kit or use a calibrated metering pump such as the West System 306 Large Capacity Metering Pump for high-volume work. Incorrect mix ratios are the most common cause of soft or tacky cures — always measure by volume or weight, not by eye.
