The Uflex UP28R is a rear-mount hydraulic steering helm from the UP28 series — designed for dash configurations where the helm must be installed from behind the dash rather than through the front. It delivers the same UP28-series displacement and SeaStar® compatibility as the front-mount UP28FM, in a rear-mount configuration that suits certain helm station layouts and console designs where front-mount access is limited or not possible.
Compatible with Teleflex/SeaStar cylinders, hoses, and oil, the UP28R integrates cleanly into existing SeaStar-compatible hydraulic steering systems without requiring system-wide replacement.

Best Use Case: The UP28R is the correct helm when your console or dash design requires the helm to be installed from the rear — a configuration that comes up on certain center consoles, walkarounds, and custom helm stations where the dash panel is not accessible from the front for a standard front-mount installation. The rear-mount design is less common than front-mount, so if you’re replacing a failed helm, confirm the original was a rear-mount unit before ordering — front-mount and rear-mount helms are not interchangeable in most dash configurations. The UP28R carries the same UP28-series displacement advantage over the UP25-series as the front-mount UP28FM: more fluid per stroke, fewer turns lock-to-lock, and more responsive steering feel on larger systems.
