WEST System 105 Epoxy Resin – Quart (946 mL)
Part Number: 105A
Brand: WEST System (Gougeon Brothers)
Size: 946 mL (1 US quart / 32 oz.)
Product Overview
WEST System 105 is the base resin used in the WEST System epoxy formulation. A low-viscosity, unfilled epoxy resin that must be combined with a WEST System hardener (205, 206, or 207) in the correct mix ratio before use. Together, the resin and hardener form a high-strength, moisture-resistant epoxy system widely used for marine construction, repair, and protective coating applications.
- Low-viscosity base resin — requires a compatible WEST System hardener
- Suitable for laminating, bonding, fairing, and coating
- Excellent adhesion to fiberglass, wood, metals, and most composites
- Forms a strong, moisture-resistant bond when fully cured
- Can be modified with WEST System fillers and additives for specific applications
- Size: 946 mL (quart)
Compatible Applications
- Fiberglass hull repair and laminating
- Wood boat construction and repair
- Barrier coating below the waterline
- Structural bonding of frames, stringers, and structural components
- Composite construction and repair
- Filling and fairing (with appropriate WEST System filler)
- Aluminum and metal bonding (with proper surface preparation)
Note: 105 Resin must be mixed with a WEST System hardener at the correct ratio — do not use with non-WEST System hardeners. Confirm the correct hardener for your working time and temperature conditions before starting the job.
Hardener Selection Guide
- 205 Fast Hardener: Shorter working time; best for cooler conditions or quick repairs
- 206 Slow Hardener: Longer working time; best for large laminating jobs or warm weather
- 207 Special Clear Hardener: For clear coating and wood finishing applications
Application Notes
- Measure resin and hardener accurately using the WEST System metering pump system or by weight for best results
- Mix thoroughly for a minimum of 2 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom of the mixing container
- Do not add solvents or thin the mixture
- Apply within the working time appropriate for the selected hardener and ambient temperature
- Wear appropriate PPE — gloves, eye protection, and respiratory protection when sanding cured epoxy

Parts Desk Insights
The most common issue with WEST System sales is customers ordering resin without a hardener — always confirm the customer has the correct hardener before completing the sale. The 206 Slow Hardener is the most versatile choice for general marine repair in warm or temperate conditions. Note: there is an existing catalog listing for the same quart size at West System C105A — review for potential consolidation.
