Serial Number Fitment Notice
Volvo Penta sterndrive models can use different anodes depending on drive version and production date. Confirm the drive model, ratio designation, and serial number before ordering. Do not select by appearance alone — anode shape and mounting can vary across otherwise similar drives.
Service Interval
Inspect anodes at every haul-out or annual service, and replace when the anode is more than 50% depleted. Boats left in the water for extended periods, operated in high-salinity environments, or moored near stray-current sources will deplete anodes faster and require more frequent inspection. A fully depleted anode leaves the drive unprotected.

Installation Notes
Clean the mounting surface of old anode material and corrosion before fitting the new anode. Ensure firm contact between the anode and the drive housing for effective electrical bonding — paint, sealant, or debris between the anode and mount will reduce or eliminate protection. Do not paint over the anode. Torque fasteners to the specification in the Volvo Penta service manual.
Inspect related anode positions on the drive, trim tab, and transom while access is available — replacing all anodes at the same service prevents mixed depletion rates.
