When This Part Needs Replacement
Replace this transmission filter during scheduled gearbox service, after initial break-in service on a new or rebuilt transmission, when fluid contamination is found, or whenever the transmission fluid is being changed after overheating, water intrusion, clutch material contamination, or heavy-duty operation. ZF service references commonly call for filter replacement after the first service interval and then at regular annual or hour-based service intervals.
Installation Notes
Drain or control fluid before removing the filter cover, then replace the filter and O-rings together. Lightly lubricate new O-rings with clean transmission fluid before installation, seat the filter correctly, and refill only with the fluid type specified for the exact gearbox model. After service, run the transmission, check for leaks, confirm proper fluid level according to the ZF procedure, and recheck after the transmission reaches operating temperature.
