Before selecting parts
Identify the engine you have
Use the complete identification to select the correct generation, diagram and replacement part.
Newer 6.2L generation
This family is distinct from older GM-based MX 6.2 MPI and 377 MAG engines. Current published 300 and 350 hp versions need their exact model selection.
DTS & emissions equipment
Identify the installed DTS or other control arrangement, ECT/catalyst equipment and cooling package. A 6.2L name alone does not identify the correct assembly.
Propulsion installation
Match the installed drive and transom by their own identification. Inboard and tow-sport equipment must not be inferred from a sterndrive application.
Older MX 6.2 MPI / 377 MAG and other 6.2L installations require their own catalogue selections.
Send the complete engine-plate details and clear old-part photos. Match the installed fuel and cooling equipment, and include the separate drive or marine-gear plate when asking about those assemblies.
Documented installations
Boat examples
These examples describe documented engine options or installations. Boats may have been repowered or modified; an example does not establish present-day parts compatibility.
2017 Cobalt R5
The builder lists 6.2 MPI ECT DTS at 300 or 350 hp with Bravo III.
