Identify the engine you have

Use the complete identification to select the correct generation, diagram and replacement part.

GL / Gi / GXi

GL is carbureted. Earlier Gi throttle-body-injected versions and later GXi multi-port-injected versions require separate fuel-system matching.

Generation

These legacy engines are distinct from the newer aluminium direct-injection V6 range. Identify the actual engine from its plate and installed fuel equipment.

Drive & cooling

SX and Duoprop packages need their own drive identification. Match pumps, exhaust and cooling hardware to the installed engine and drive arrangement.

Do not apply newer Volvo Penta direct-injection V6 parts to a legacy 4.3L GL, Gi or GXi solely by displacement.

Send the complete engine-plate details and clear old-part photos. Match the installed fuel and cooling equipment, and include the separate drive or marine-gear plate when asking about those assemblies.
