Identify the engine you have

Use the complete identification to select the correct generation, diagram and replacement part.

Fuel system

GL carbureted engines and injected Gi/GXi engines need separate fuel-system identification. The documented later Gi and GXi range uses multi-port injection; keep the complete suffix and generation.

Catalyst & cooling

Catalyzed GiC/CE versions were introduced as separate configurations. Match exhaust and ignition equipment, and identify the actual seawater or freshwater cooling installation.

Drive package

Identify the installed SX, Duoprop or inboard gear arrangement by its own plate. An engine badge does not identify the drive or ratio.

The newer 5.3L and 6.2L direct-injection V8 ranges are separate families. A common V8 label does not establish parts compatibility.

Send the complete engine-plate details and clear old-part photos. Match the installed fuel and cooling equipment, and include the separate drive or marine-gear plate when asking about those assemblies.
