D2-40 is a 1.5-litre model; larger documented D2 versions use 2.2 litres. That size grouping does not establish shared service parts.

D2 variants differ in output and air/fuel systems. Identify the full suffix and installed electrical control equipment before choosing an assembly.
Saildrive or shaft
Identify the actual saildrive or reverse gear from its own plate and record the ratio where applicable. Match cooling and installation hardware to the installed package.
