This motor is the correct replacement for OMC integral trim systems using the Prestolite EVD4002 motor — most commonly found on Johnson and Evinrude outboards from the mid-1980s through early 1990s. The most common failure symptoms are a trim system that moves slowly, stops mid-travel, or won’t respond at all. Before replacing the motor, verify the trim relay is functioning — a faulty relay is often misdiagnosed as a motor failure.
