Marine Ford 302 engines can use different cooling pumps and accessory arrangements depending on the mariniser, model year and installation. Fitment should therefore be confirmed using the original pump number rather than engine displacement alone.

Do not select this pump solely because the engine is a Ford 302. Confirm the pump mounting pattern, pulley arrangement, hose connections and original part number, particularly on repowered or modified boats.
When This Part Needs Replacement
Replace the complete water pump when:
- Coolant leaks from the shaft seal or housing
- The pump bearing becomes noisy
- The pulley develops wobble or excessive movement
- Engine temperature rises despite proper coolant level
- Coolant circulation becomes weak or inconsistent

Installation Notes
- Allow the engine to cool completely before service.
- Disconnect the battery.
- Drain the cooling system below the pump level.
- Record the original belt routing and pulley position.
- Inspect the pulley, drive belt and mounting hardware.
- Clean the engine mounting surface thoroughly.
- Install the correct gasket or sealing components required by the engine service procedure.
- Tighten mounting bolts evenly to the specified torque.
- Confirm pulley alignment before tensioning the belt.
- Refill the system with the specified coolant mixture.
- Bleed trapped air according to the engine manufacturer's procedure.
- Run the engine and inspect for leaks, proper belt tracking and stable operating temperature.
Professional installation is recommended when the original pulley must be transferred or when the cooling system requires a specific bleeding procedure.
