Crusader / PCM Exhaust Riser 3-1/2" β OEM Part R029011
OEM 3-1/2" exhaust riser and elbow assembly for selected Crusader and Pleasurecraft Marine (PCM) gasoline inboard engines. The riser bolts to the exhaust manifold and routes water-cooled exhaust gases into a 3-1/2" ID marine exhaust hose. PCM parts manuals identify R029011 as the exhaust elbow assembly used with the R028009 exhaust manifold. Construction is heavy-duty cast iron.
Part Information
- Part Number: R029011
- Brand: Crusader / PCM (Pleasurecraft Marine)
- Official Product Type: Exhaust Riser / Elbow Assembly β 3-1/2"
- Exhaust Outlet: 3-1/2" ID
- Construction: Heavy-duty cast iron
- System: Wet Exhaust β Manifold-to-Hose Riser Assembly
- Associated Exhaust Manifold: R028009
- Manifold-to-Riser Gasket: RM0002 (sold separately)

Compatible Applications
- GM 5.7L / 350 CID V8 β selected Crusader / PCM applications
- GM 5.0L / 305 CID V8 β selected Crusader / PCM applications
- Ford 5.0L / 302 CID V8 β selected PCM applications
- Ford 5.8L / 351 CID V8 β selected PCM applications
- PCM Pro Sport / Excalibur MP5.0 and MP5.7 engines using the R029011 exhaust configuration
- Many later PCM High Output / GT-40 configurations specifying the 3-1/2" outlet
- Fitment Notice: Verify whether the existing installation uses a 3" or 3-1/2" exhaust hose connection before ordering. The similar R029001 riser uses a 3" outlet and is not interchangeable with R029011. Measuring the existing exhaust hose connection is the most reliable way to confirm the correct part.
- Always confirm fitment by engine model, serial number, and parts diagram before ordering
Supersession & Related Part Numbers
- R029011 β OEM 3-1/2" exhaust elbow / riser (this part)
- R029001 β Related 3" exhaust elbow; not interchangeable where a 3-1/2" connection is required
- RM0002 β Manifold-to-exhaust-riser gasket (sold separately)
- R028009 β Associated exhaust manifold
When to Replace
- Heavy internal corrosion or restricted cooling water passages
- Visible cracking or external rust-through on the riser body
- Exhaust leaks at the manifold-to-riser joint
- Water leaking from the riser body or cooling passages
- Evidence of water entering the exhaust manifold or cylinders
- Overheating caused by blocked internal water passages
- Preventative replacement during exhaust manifold service on high-hour engines
Service Interval
- Inspect annually for cracks, corrosion, and water passage condition
- Replace immediately if cracks, water leaks, or exhaust leaks are found
- Internal cooling passage corrosion is the primary failure mode on saltwater-operated engines and may not be visible externally β inspect passages whenever the riser is removed
Installation Notes
- Always install a new RM0002 manifold-to-riser gasket β do not reuse the old gasket
- Inspect the exhaust manifold mating surface for corrosion or damage before assembly
- PCM diagrams specify a combination of long and short attaching bolts with lock washers for the riser assembly β confirm hardware specification in the Crusader / PCM service manual
- After installation, check carefully for exhaust gas and cooling water leaks before returning the engine to service
- Inspect and replace the exhaust elbow and manifold at the same time if they show corrosion or wear β see Crusader Exhaust Manifold R028001
Technical FAQ
What is the difference between R029011 and R029001?
R029011 uses a 3-1/2" exhaust outlet; R029001 uses a 3" outlet. They are not interchangeable. The same basic PCM manifold can be found with either 3" or 3-1/2" risers depending on the engine configuration. Measure the existing exhaust hose connection to confirm which outlet size your engine uses before ordering.
Which exhaust manifold does R029011 pair with?
PCM parts manuals identify R029011 as the exhaust elbow assembly used with the R028009 exhaust manifold. Confirm the manifold part number in your engineβs parts diagram before ordering.
Should I replace the gasket when installing a new riser?
Yes. Always install a new RM0002 manifold-to-riser gasket when replacing the riser. Reusing an old gasket risks exhaust leaks and cooling system failures after installation.
How do I know if my riser needs replacing?
Common signs include water leaks from the riser body, exhaust leaks at the manifold joint, overheating from blocked cooling passages, and visible external corrosion or cracking. Internal cooling passage corrosion is the primary failure mode on saltwater engines and may not be visible from the outside β inspect passages during annual service.
Parts Desk Insights
Best Use Case: R029011 is the correct OEM replacement for Crusader and PCM inboard owners replacing a failed or corroded 3-1/2" exhaust riser on GM 350/305 or Ford 302/351 applications. It is particularly well-suited for high-hour saltwater engines where internal cooling passage corrosion is the primary failure mode, and for owners performing a full exhaust system refresh alongside manifold replacement.
Common Customer Issue: The most frequent ordering mistake is confusing R029011 (3-1/2" outlet) with R029001 (3" outlet). Because the same PCM manifold can be found with either riser, measuring the existing exhaust hose connection is the safest way to confirm the correct part before ordering. Ordering the wrong outlet size results in a hose fitment problem that requires a return.
