The Top-of-Range Rode — Maximum Scope and Maximum Chain
This is the most capable anchor rode in the 8-plait lineup. Combining 250 feet of 5/8" nylon line with a full 50 feet of 5/16" Grade 43 galvanized chain, it’s built for larger vessels that anchor in deep water, exposed anchorages, or conditions where both reach and holding power are non-negotiable.
The 5/8" x 250 ft 8-plait twill-twisted nylon line is hand-spliced to a 5/16" x 50 ft Grade 43 high-test ISO-calibrated hot-dip galvanized windlass chain. A Type IV Grade A hot-dip galvanized anchor shackle is pre-installed at the chain end, and reinforced PVC depth markers are pre-installed on the line — so you always know your scope at a glance.
At approximately 36.6 kg, this is the heaviest configuration in the range. Plan your anchor locker accordingly — and make sure your windlass is rated for the load.

Best use case: This rode is purpose-built for serious cruisers, large trawlers, and offshore vessels in the 45–65 ft range that regularly anchor overnight or in exposed, high-current, or deep-water conditions. The combination of 250 ft of 5/8" line and 50 ft of 5/16" chain gives you both the scope to anchor safely in deeper anchorages and the catenary weight to keep the anchor lying flat and holding firmly. The 5/16" chain’s added mass and abrasion resistance make it the right choice for rocky or mixed-bottom anchorages where lighter chain would wear faster. Before ordering, confirm your windlass is rated for the combined weight — at ~36.6 kg this is a substantial rode. If you need the same chain weight with less line, the 5/8" x 150 ft rode with 50 ft chain is the shorter alternative. For a lighter setup with the same scope, the 5/8" x 150 ft rode with 25 ft chain reduces overall weight considerably. Stepping down in diameter, the 1/2" x 250 ft rode with 50 ft chain covers similar scope for smaller vessels.
