This GPS antenna assembly is the sensor component of the Furuno SC-60 satellite compass system. Unlike a standard GPS antenna that provides position only, the SC-60 satellite compass uses a multi-antenna array to calculate both vessel position and heading from GPS signals — delivering accurate, GPS-derived heading data that is completely immune to the magnetic interference that affects traditional fluxgate and magnetic compasses.
This makes it the preferred heading source for vessels operating near large steel structures, in high-latitude regions where magnetic variation is significant, or on commercial vessels where compass accuracy is critical for autopilot, radar overlay, and AIS target tracking.
