How It Works
The SteadyCast connects to your existing NMEA 2000 network backbone via a standard T-connector and drop cable. Once calibrated, it continuously broadcasts heading data to all connected devices on the network. Calibration requires two slow 360-degree turns and takes only a few minutes.
Installation Notes
- Mount the sensor in a stable location away from speakers, motors, and other magnetic interference sources
- Can be mounted in any orientation — no need to align with the vessel centerline during mounting
- Connect to the NMEA 2000 backbone using a compatible T-connector and drop cable
- Complete the 2-step calibration using your chartplotter’s sensor calibration menu before use
- If heading is erratic, recheck for nearby magnetic interference and re-run calibration

Is this the same as a GPS heading sensor? No — GPS heading requires the boat to be moving. The SteadyCast uses MEMS technology to provide heading even at rest or at very low speed, which is a significant advantage for fishing and slow-speed docking.
Will this work with non-Garmin chartplotters? It transmits standard NMEA 2000 heading data (PGN 127250), so it is compatible with many non-Garmin NMEA 2000 displays. Confirm PGN compatibility with your specific MFD before ordering.
