Product Description
The Jabsco 18838-0001-P is a 12-blade neoprene flexible impeller kit for compatible marine engine-cooling, bilge, transfer and general-purpose bronze pumps. It uses a bronze keyed hub and directly cross-references the Sherwood 09959K / 9959 impeller used in several Sherwood G-Series raw-water pumps.

Before ordering, confirm that the original impeller requires:

Do not confuse this impeller with the narrower Sherwood 09000K, which has the same 2-7/16-inch diameter and 5/8-inch keyed shaft but is only 7/8 inch wide.
When This Part Needs Replacement
Replace the impeller when:
- Raw-water or exhaust-water flow decreases
- Engine temperature begins rising
- The pump becomes difficult to prime
- Vanes are cracked, hardened or permanently folded
- Blade tips are torn or missing
- The hub or keyway shows wear
- The pump has operated dry
- Annual preventive maintenance is due
Jabsco recommends scheduled preventive replacement, generally at least annually for engine-cooling service or sooner under heavy-duty conditions.
Installation Notes
- Stop the engine and isolate the starting circuit.
- Close the raw-water intake seacock.
- Remove the pump cover and old O-ring or gasket.
- Pull the impeller with an impeller-removal tool or suitable pliers gripping the hub.
- Do not pry against the pump face with a screwdriver.
- Recover missing vane fragments from hoses, coolers and heat exchangers.
- Inspect the housing, cam, cover plate, shaft and drive key.
- Lubricate the new impeller before installation.
- Align the bronze-hub keyway with the shaft key.
- Install the supplied sealing component and reinstall the cover.
- Reopen the seacock and verify strong water flow immediately after startup.
Lubricating the impeller eases installation and protects it during initial pump priming.
