Serial Number & Fitment Notice

Confirm the water-pump model number and your engine serial number before ordering. Flexible impellers can share similar diameters while differing in hub style, blade count, depth, or shaft attachment method. The most reliable match is the pump number stamped on the pump body, or the original impeller part number 09-821BT-1.

Service Interval

Johnson Pump recommends inspecting the impeller at least annually or every 250–300 engine hours, whichever comes first. In high-duty-cycle or commercial applications, more frequent inspection is advisable. Replace proactively rather than waiting for a cooling alarm — impeller failures can leave blade fragments in the cooling circuit.

When This Part Needs Replacement

Inspect and replace if the blades show any of the following:

  • Cracking or splits at the blade roots
  • Permanent bending or set (blades that won't spring back)
  • Missing blade sections
  • Hardening or loss of flexibility
  • Excessive wear on the blade tips
  • Heat damage from running the pump dry

Installation Notes

Before fitting the new impeller, inspect the pump chamber, wear plate, cam, cover plate, shaft, and seals for scoring or damage. Lubricate the impeller with an approved impeller lubricant — never petroleum grease. Confirm the threaded hub engages cleanly with the F75 pump shaft before closing the cover plate.

Important: If the old impeller is missing blades, trace and recover all fragments from the downstream cooling circuit and heat exchanger before returning the engine to service. Fragment ingestion can block heat exchanger tubes and cause overheating.

Parts Desk Insights

With flexible impellers, pump identification is more reliable than engine model alone — two engines in the same family can have different pump configurations depending on build date and market. If the pump body is marked 10-24413-01 or 10-24413-02, that is a strong match for this F75B impeller. The MC97 neoprene compound in this impeller is specifically formulated for raw-water service and resists swelling better than generic rubber — a common failure point with non-OEM substitutes. If the old impeller has lost any blades, locate the missing pieces before running the engine again; a blocked heat exchanger from a missing blade is a much costlier repair than the impeller itself.
