Johnson Pump Aquah Marine Water Heater — 1200W, 120V, NPT, Stainless Steel
The Johnson Pump Aquah is a dual-heating marine water heater built for onboard hot water systems. It heats via a 1200W 120V AC electric element as the primary source, and also accepts indirect heating from a second heat source — such as the main engine or a generator — allowing the vessel’s engine heat to pre-heat or maintain water temperature while underway, reducing electrical load at anchor.
Key Specifications
- Model: Aquah
- Electric heating element: 1200W
- Voltage: 120V AC
- Connections: NPT (National Pipe Thread)
- Tank material: AISI 304 stainless steel
- Heating modes: Electric (primary) + indirect (engine/generator)
Key Features
- Dual heating as standard — electric element plus indirect heating from engine or generator; no additional kit required
- AISI 304 stainless steel tank — corrosion-resistant construction for long-term marine use in freshwater and saltwater environments
- Adjustable safety thermostat — allows temperature adjustment during electric heating mode with built-in overheat protection
- Compact plastic end cover — sturdy cover includes integrated mounting brackets for straightforward installation
- NPT connections — compatible with standard NPT plumbing fittings used in North American marine installations
Parts Desk Insights
- Dual heating system: The Aquah uses electric heating when on shore power or running a generator, and can use engine coolant loop heat when underway. Confirm your vessel has a suitable engine heat exchanger loop before relying on indirect heating — not all engines are plumbed for this without additional fittings.
- 120V AC only: This is a 120V AC unit. It requires a properly wired 120V AC shore power or generator circuit. Do not connect to a 12V or 24V DC system. Confirm your vessel’s AC electrical system is correctly sized and protected before installation.
- NPT connections: Confirm your existing hot water plumbing uses NPT fittings. BSP (British Standard Pipe) threads are not compatible with NPT without adapters — common on European-built vessels.
- Tank sizing: Confirm the tank capacity suits your vessel’s hot water demand. For larger crews or extended passages, a higher-capacity unit may be more appropriate. Call the parts desk for available Aquah capacities.
- Installation location: The Aquah is designed for below-deck installation in a dry, ventilated space. Confirm mounting clearances, plumbing run lengths, and electrical cable routing before ordering.
