- V4 is a heavy-duty unit: At nearly 25 kg, the V4 is a serious commercial-grade windlass. Confirm your bow structure, backing plate, and deck reinforcement can handle the load before ordering — this is not a light-duty installation.
- 3/8" chain is heavier rode: 3/8" chain is typically used on larger vessels (40’+) with heavier anchors. Confirm your anchor locker depth and rode fall can handle the weight and volume of 3/8" chain before specifying this windlass.
- Rope/chain combo or all-chain: The V4 gypsy handles both configurations. If running a rope-chain combo rode, confirm the rope diameter and splice quality match the gypsy requirements.
- Contactor compatibility: The V4 uses a specific 12V contactor (Lewmar 68000320). If the contactor ever needs replacement, confirm the part number from the wiring diagram — do not substitute a 24V contactor.
- Emergency manual override: We strongly recommend ordering the emergency manual override kit at the same time. On a vessel running 3/8" chain and a heavy anchor, manual retrieval without the kit is extremely difficult.

Electronics are strictly inspected. No returns on open-box electronics. Exceptions may apply only with prior written approval. Any electronic unit that has been installed, powered, activated, or altered may not be eligible for return.
