A complete magnesium anode service kit for Johnson and Evinrude V4 and V6 high-performance outboard motors operating in freshwater. Magnesium is the only sacrificial metal that provides effective galvanic protection in freshwater — zinc and aluminum anodes go passive in low-conductivity water and stop working, leaving your motor’s lower unit and trim tabs unprotected.
The kit includes all anode castings, mounting hardware, and installation instructions needed to complete a full anode replacement in one service visit.

The CMOMCV4V6KITM is the correct anode kit for V4 and V6 Johnson and Evinrude outboards running in freshwater. These motors are popular on freshwater performance boats and bass rigs, and zinc anodes are frequently installed by mistake — either because they were already on the motor or because zinc is more commonly stocked. In freshwater, zinc provides little to no protection. Switching to magnesium is the right fix if you’re seeing corrosion on a freshwater outboard that has zinc anodes.
Replace the full kit at each service interval rather than swapping individual anodes. Mixing old and new anodes — or mixing alloys — creates uneven sacrifice rates and can leave parts of the motor underprotected. For saltwater or brackish water use, an aluminum anode kit is the appropriate choice.
