Mastervolt CombiMaster 12/3000-160 120V Inverter/Charger – 35513000
Product Description
The Mastervolt CombiMaster 12/3000-160 combines a high-output true sine wave inverter, a 160-amp 12-volt battery charger and a fast automatic AC transfer system in one compact unit. Designed for marine, recreational and semi-professional power systems, it supplies clean 120-volt AC power from the battery bank and automatically transfers to shore power or generator power when an acceptable external source becomes available. Its integrated Power Assist function can supplement a limited shore connection or small generator with battery power during temporary high-demand loads.

Battery Compatibility
The CombiMaster can be configured for:
- Flooded lead-acid batteries
- AGM batteries
- Gel batteries
- Mastervolt MLI lithium-ion batteries
- Other supported battery systems using correctly configured charging parameters
Lithium installations must use a compatible battery-management system and charging configuration. Do not assume that a generic lithium battery is compatible solely because the charger includes an MLI profile.

Fitment Notice
Part number 35513000 is the North American CombiMaster 12/3000-160 model for nominal 12-volt DC systems and 120-volt AC output. It must not be confused with the 230-volt CombiMaster 12/3000-100, part number 35013000, or the 24-volt CombiMaster 24/3000-70, part number 35523000.
Confirm all of the following before ordering:
- Battery-bank voltage
- AC output voltage
- Shore-power and generator capacity
- Battery chemistry and capacity
- Required continuous and startup loads
- Available mounting space
- Cable length and conductor size
- Overcurrent-protection requirements
- Network integration requirements
At high inverter loads, the unit can draw more than 200 amps from a 12-volt battery bank. DC cabling, terminals, battery switches and overcurrent protection must be selected for the actual installation and cable length.
Installation Notes
Install the CombiMaster vertically in a dry, ventilated compartment protected from direct water exposure, excessive heat, battery gases and fuel vapours. Maintain the clearances specified in the installation manual so the variable-speed cooling fan can move sufficient air.
Use correctly sized marine-grade conductors, approved terminals, suitable battery and AC protection and an accessible DC disconnect. Install the included battery-temperature sensor at the battery bank and configure the charger for the correct battery chemistry before commissioning.
AC and DC installation should be completed by a qualified marine or mobile electrical technician. Follow the current Mastervolt manual and applicable ABYC, CSA and local electrical requirements.
When This Product Needs Replacement
Inspect or replace the inverter/charger if it:
- No longer produces stable true sine wave AC output
- Repeatedly shuts down under loads it previously supported
- Fails to transfer properly between shore, generator and inverter operation
- No longer follows its configured charging profile
- Produces recurring overload, over-temperature or battery-voltage faults
- Loses communication with verified MasterBus, CZone or NMEA 2000 equipment
- Shows evidence of overheated terminals, moisture intrusion or internal damage
Before replacing the unit, test the battery bank under load and inspect the AC source, DC voltage drop, fuses, breakers, disconnects, network cabling and terminal connections.

Parts Desk Insight
The “3000” in the model name refers to its inverter class, but Mastervolt rates this unit for 2,600 watts of continuous output at 40°C. Its major advantage is its short-duration capacity: it can supply 4,500 watts for 30 seconds and 6,000 watts for five seconds, making it well suited to compatible pumps, compressors and appliances with demanding startup loads.
