What This Part Does
The driveshaft slinger ring is a small rubber ring that mounts on the driveshaft directly above the water pump housing. Its job is to fling water and debris away from the pump housing area as the driveshaft rotates, protecting the pump assembly from water ingestion and premature wear. It is a one-time-use component — inspect it every time the water pump or lower unit is opened, and replace it if there is any sign of wear.
